Repair and maintenance
How to repair and maintain the automobile wheel hub bearing is an important walking part of the automobile. The wheel hub bearing is responsible for reducing the frictional resistance when the chassis is running and maintaining the normal driving of the car. If the wheel hub bearing fails, it may cause noise, bearing heating, etc., especially the front wheel is more obvious, which can easily lead to dangerous phenomena such as loss of direction. Therefore, hub bearings must be maintained on schedule. 1. Inspection of automobile wheel hub bearings (1) When checking the tightness of the wheel hub bearings, first set up the axle of the wheel at one end of the inspected wheel hub of the automobile, and set up the car safely with tools such as a support stool and a car cover. (2) Rotate the wheel under test several times by hand to see if the rotation is stable and if there is any abnormal noise. If the rotation is not stable and there is friction sound, it means that the braking part is not normal; if there is no noise, the rotation is not stable and sometimes loose, it means that the bearing part is not normal. The hub should be disassembled and inspected when the above abnormal phenomenon occurs. For small cars, when checking the wheel bearings, hold the upper and lower sides of the tire with both hands, pull the tire back and forth with both hands, and repeat it many times. If it is normal, there should be no feeling of looseness and blockage; if there is obvious feeling of looseness when swinging, the hub should be disassembled and inspected. (3) Inspection of braking. Usually when checking the wheel hub bearing, check the wheel brake device. If there are oil stains on the inside of the tire, it is likely to be caused by oil leakage in the brake cylinder or brake oil pipe. The cause should be found out in time and eliminated. 2. Maintenance of automobile wheel hub bearings Before disassembling the wheel hub, preparations for wheel hub maintenance should be made, the car should be stopped and the axle should be erected to ensure the safety of maintenance operations. (1) Remove the decorative cover and dust cover of the hub shaft head; (2) Remove the tire nut and tire, and be careful not to damage the thread of the tire bolt. If it is a disc brake, the brake should be removed and then used to remove the lock ring or lock pin. (3) Remove the hub with special tools; (4) Scrape off the old grease in the bearing, journal and hub cavity, clean the hub bearing and journal with cleaning agent and dry with a cloth, and finally wipe the hub cavity with a cloth. (5) Check the hub bearing and bearing race, and find that there are cracks, fatigue peeling and loose bearing rollers, and the bearing should be replaced. If you find pitting on the bearing race, you should also replace the bearing. (6) Check the fit between the inner diameter of the bearing and the journal. When measuring the journal with a clearance of no more than 0.10mm, it should be measured at the upper and lower parts of the vertical ground (the largest wear part). If the fit clearance exceeds the specified use limit, the bearing should be replaced to restore the normal fit clearance. It is not allowed to make burrs and pitting on the journal to reduce the gap. (7) After all parts meet the requirements, apply grease to the inner bearing and put it into the hub. (8) When applying grease to the inner cavity of the bearing, pay attention to squeezing the grease into the bearing until the grease comes out from the other side of the bearing. Apply a thin layer of grease to the hub cavity and the shaft head cover to prevent rust. Pay attention not to apply too much grease in the hub cavity, otherwise it will affect heat dissipation and braking. (9) Install the hub and outer bearing back on the journal, screw on the shaft head adjusting nut by hand, and then tighten the adjusting nut with the shaft head wrench according to the specified torque. After tightening the nut, turn the hub a few turns left and right to see the bearing installation; on the other hand, turn the bearing and the seat ring correctly. At this time, the bearing tightness is appropriate, and the wheel rotates freely without feeling the axial clearance. (10) Finally, install the lock plate, fixing nut, tire, dust cover and decorative cover in turn. (11) After the wheel hub bearing is adjusted, drive for a certain mileage (about 10km), stop for inspection, and use it to wipe the temperature of the wheel hub. If the heat is generated, it is caused by the adjustment of the bearing. It should be readjusted and the bearing tightness should be properly relaxed.
Causes of abnormal damage of automobile wheel hub bearing
In the maintenance process, it is often found that some cars have a large driving noise.
